A Message from Darren Barlow, President of Supersports NSW
May 4, 2020.
Trust you are managing the current situation and staying safe. Here are some updates regarding the 2020 NSW Supersports Championship.
Firstly, Motorsport Australia (formerly CAMS) has lengthened the life of current licences so that you will not be disadvantaged from having no competition over the past couple of months.
Secondly, the NSW Motor Race Panel in consultation with the promotors of Wakefield Park have taken the decision to postpone the upcoming round of the NSW Supersports Championship at Wakefield Park May 23. We are looking at alternative dates in September/October/November to ensure that our racing year will remain as complete and competitive as possible.
With respect to the following round at SMSP on June 27, I am in discussion with Motorsport Australia and the SMSP promotors regarding the potential for this round to continue. This will depend on government restrictions being lifted on large gatherings. Hopefully we'll see movement on this shortly and I will keep you updated.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or further suggestions regarding the 2020 racing year.
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
President Supersports Racecar Club of Australia
